On June 20, 2022, the Lord spoke to me saying,
“Watch as I de-seat the deceitful.”
I immediately knew that he was speaking of those who have been given seats of authority and leadership in spheres of influence— especially in governmental seats.
When I hear words like this, I am very careful to humble myself before him and pray for mercy upon those who are the subject of his anger. Far too often I have seen (and grieved) as believers “gloated” when their enemies have fallen. I want to remind us in this season of what Proverbs says about this,
“Don’t rejoice (gloat) when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.” Proverbs 24:17-18
When I heard that God will “de-seat the deceitful” I had to remind my soul that God’s heart is broken by those who have turned away from him and are now being used to deceive. I had to humble myself and ask him for mercy upon their lives. His anger is without sin— and so must ours. May his anger bring them to repentance, even if they lose their “seats”, may their souls be saved.
During our time living in the Washington D.C. region, I saw many groups of believers come through our nation’s capital. Some came with humility and purity while others came with a motivation that was to rejoice when their enemies would fall. As we came closer to the 2020 federal elections, I began to see more and more of those coming with what appeared to be “gloating” rather than purity. Do not get me wrong— there were many with pure hearts that came to pray, worship, and bow down before the Lord with humble hearts. But an intercession came upon me because I began to feel a spirit of “gloating over our enemies falling” come upon many. The verses in Proverbs 24 would ring in my mind like a siren that called for intercession.
This past May the Lord told me that the summer months would be marked by “desires (promises) fulfilled.” We are only a week into summer here in the United States and we have already seen three Supreme Court rulings that have brought victories (the right to bear arms, the right to life, and the right to pray). The reversal of Roe v Wade is unprecedented and has been interceded for 50 years. A true jubilee judgment!
I believe that we will also see the de-seating of the deceitful— but we must pray for mercy and pray for the raising up of righteous men and women who will humbly walk with God and uphold His statutes. We are not to gloat or rejoice over our enemies falling, lest his anger be turned away from them and come upon us.
We must walk in wisdom in times when God’s anger is toward the wicked. His judgments may bring victory to the righteous but let our rejoicing be focused on the victory rather than gloating as enemies fall. We rejoice in the Lord and pray for our enemies.
If men and women (who have become deceivers) hold seats of authority that they will be removed from— let us pray for mercy. Let our rejoicing be in the justice of God rather than the “falling of our enemies.” This is a plum line alignment for the Church regarding what we rejoice in. We CANNOT gloat. Pray that God would remove all gloating from his people’s hearts and rejoicing.
Here is the definition of “gloat”:
To contemplate or dwell on one’s own success or another’s misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure.
May we never bring this into our worship or celebration of victories.
We are rejoicing regarding our King’s verdict for life in our nation— life that begins at conception— lives that he knew before they were in their mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5). But we do not gloat with smugness or malignant pleasure. We rejoice in his righteous decree in humility and gratitude.
I believe that gloating insights a reaction of violence and hatred— because it is void of love. Let us pray for a pure worship to come forth— a holy hunger— a pure praise. God will honor this kind of rejoicing.
“Thank you Jesus for your victory! Keep our hearts pure, our worship pure and our prayers pure. We pray for our enemies, even as you bring holy alignments and answers to prayers. Impart your love to all that we do and say! “
