God is Zealous For You

God will go out of His way to reach the lost and draw the lost one into His family.

So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with great zeal.” Zechariah 1:14

Being zealous for something or someone means that one has extremely great enthusiasm for that something or someone. One will pursue something with a cause to great lengths, not being deterred by anything else. There can be many different reasons for the extreme motivation in the pursuit, but they go deep into the heart of the person.

Zechariah records an angel quoting God He says that He is very zealous for Jerusalem and Zion.

Over the years, many people have had different causes that caused great zeal among them. Groups of people have risen up to take a stand for some cause, even at the expense of their freedoms and sometimes even their lives. In some of these cases, great changes have been made due to their extreme commitment to the cause.

The world tries to claim that God does not really care if He even exists. All they see is the heartaches and problems being faced on a daily basis.

Getting caught up in the problems of life, many believers begin to question God’s concern for them. Often, they lose focus of God’s great love for them.

God revealed His being zealous for Jerusalem by sending His Son to die for them and provide salvation for them. Believers today, though not physically a part of Jerusalem, are grafted into the vine, spiritually now a part of Jerusalem.

Just as God was zealous for Jerusalem, He is zealous for the believer now. He will go out of His way to reach the lost and draw the lost one into His family. The believer is not alone, because God is zealously right there beside in the troubles of life.

You may be going through difficult times in which you are questioning whether God cares about you are not. Do not forget what God has done for you in sending His one and only Son to die for you. God is pursuing you with a zealousness that cannot be matched by any other. He does not want to lose you to sin and this world. Hold on to the love God has for you and know that He is with you and is fighting for you. God is zealous for you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s great love for you; that you will know God is zealous for you; and that you will know that God will never leave you.
