God is Mightier

No matter how loud or strong the waves of sin in this world appear to be, they are not mightier than God.

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea. Psalm 93:4

Water is a very powerful force in this world. Given enough water, it can take out large buildings, wipe out roads and cause a lot of damage during a flood. Along with the power of the waves of water, there is also a large, thundering noise caused by the waves crashing into the shoreline as it destroys boats and buildings. Very little can stop the force of water and waves in a storm.

The psalmist describes God as mightier than the noise of many waters and the waves of the sea.

The waves of the ocean are noisy and large and cause an extensive amount of damage, but only to physical things. There is a different type of noise and wave that sweeps across nations, destroying much more than physical things. It is one that will destroy the lives and souls of men, women, and children.

The world makes a lot of noise that strives to cause people to live in sin. Crying out loud, the world tells everyone that sin is good and fun; living for self in the moment is worth everything. It crashes into people’s lives, changing their hearts and minds and causing them to turn toward sin.

Although the wave of sin is mighty, God is mightier. He overcame sin when Jesus died on the cross and then rose again to give new life through the forgiveness of sin. All sin is wiped away and destroyed and eternal life is given. Lives are changed and sinful actions, thoughts, and words are destroyed, making people a new creation.

No matter how loud or strong the waves of sin in this world appear to be, they are not mightier than God. Regardless of where you go, there is a lot of noise occurring. There are waves of promotion of sin that will attempt to crash into you and destroy you, causing you to choose to sin against God.

Instead of giving in to those waves of sin, turn to God and lean upon His strength. He is mightier than the waves of sin and can change your life, giving you strength to withstand the mighty waves against you. His Holy Spirit can change you and give you victory over the temptation to sin.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the mighty power of God in your life; that God will protect you from the noise and waves of this fallen world; and that God will change you into a new creation for His glory.
