God Doesn’t Want a Partnership He Wants a Merger

If you’re a Christian and you’re feeling distant from the Lord, know that He has Merged Himself and His Spirit with you!

A few years ago I was on a counseling call with a woman and her husband, as they were experiencing some marriage issues. While I was talking to the woman, the Holy Spirit interjected something into the conversation that I wasn’t expecting.

As I was talking to her about their issues with intimacy, the Holy Spirit said to me, “Ask her if she thinks that her marriage is a Partnership.” As I heard this it stopped me cold in my tracks, and I thought to myself, “I’m not sure if I know the answer to that or not!”

She took a few seconds to respond because I think it caught her off guard as well, but then she said to me, “Well, I think it is, yeah!” Then the Holy Spirit said, “TELL HER THAT IT’S NOT A PARTNERSHIP IT’S A MERGER!” As soon as it came out of my mouth, it was as if a dozen scriptures began to flood into my mind all at once.

I told her that I would call her back as soon as I explored what He had just told me, and I immediately got off the phone. I then picked up my Webster’s Dictionary and looked up both of those terms and Here’s what they are:

Partnership- where two people, or two groups of people, or two companies come together for a mutual interest, but they retain their own individual identities.

Merger- where two people, or two groups of people, or two companies come together for a mutual interest, but they lose their two identities and One New Identity Emerges in Their Place.

While many think that marriage is a Partnership, there are equally as many Christians who believe that their union with Jesus Christ is also a Partnership, BUT IT ISN’T! When you go to the altar in a wedding, the two individual identities die there at that Altar and what walks away is One totally New Individual!

“For this reason a man shall leave [behind] his father and his mother [a]and be [b]joined to his wife and cleave closely to her permanently, And the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.” Mark 10:7-8

In the same way, when you went to the Altar to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you died in baptism and He died upon the Cross and what comes away from that Altar is a NEW CREATION!

“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.” 1 Corinthians 6:17

The Lord Jesus Christ isn’t coming into your life to just partner with you in ministry. He’s coming into your life to Merge His Life with yours and to give you the Holy Spirit to live in your life in order to Transform your natural life into a Supernatural Life!

If you’re a Christian and you’re feeling distant from the Lord, know that He has Merged Himself and His Spirit with you! You’re not just in a Partnership with Him, but He desires deep Transformational Experiences with you every day from this point forward!

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is very great, but I SPEAK CONCERNING [THE RELATION OF] CHRIST AND THE CHURCH.” Ephesians 5:31-32
