Finish the Work

Each day presents a new opportunity in the ongoing work of God.

I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. John 17:4

Beginning a project is easy for most people. The struggle that comes into play is actually finishing the project. Nearly every project that is begun begins to have some challenges arise in completing it. One runs short on materials or gets busy with other needs to be met, or does not understand how to complete a part of it, or some other difficulty that keeps the person from finishing the desired project.

John records Jesus saying a prayer for Himself. He tells the Father that He had glorified the Father on the earth and had completed the work He was given to do.

In most workplaces, the workers are given a daily project that they are to work on. The expectation is that they will complete the daily project, which could be just a small part of a larger project that takes much more than one day to complete. Completing the daily tasks honors the manager and the owner of the workplace.

People have a good understanding of needing to complete a project, yet many will often fail to finish many projects. They allow other distractions to get in the way and pull them away from what needs to be done.

Believers can often get distracted from the job God has given them to do. Allowing the temporary things of this world to gain their attention, they put the eternal things of God to the side.

One needs to be just like Jesus in finishing the work given by God. As long as one has breath on this earth, there is a job that needs to be done. There is always one more person that needs to hear the gospel message.

Over your lifetime how many projects have you started? Then, how many of those projects have you completed?

God has a project for you to complete. That work is being His witness here on the earth to as many as possible. Each day presents a new opportunity in the ongoing work of God. Glorify God in doing the work He is calling you to do. Do not allow yourself to get distracted and fail to complete all the work God has for you to do.

Are you working on completing His work?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the work God has for you to do; that you will glorify God each day; and that you will complete the work God has given you to do.
