and they spoke, saying to Him, “Tell us by what authority You are doing these things, or who is the one who gave You this authority?”
Luke 20:2 (NASB)
I write today’s post after a difficult evening where I came face to face with rabid evil in the form of an elderly neighbour. This was a major escalation in what has been a deteriorating relationship. I am convinced that what I saw was the work of Satan, timed to take the shine off a good Bible study at church earlier. This is the way our enemy works today and has worked in the times of our Lord. Our Lord was constantly questioned by His enemies, even seeking to kill him and eventually doing so, but only by God’s sovereign plan to bring salvation to the world.
But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake. It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.
Luke 21:12-13
Dear Reader, the words of Luke are true historically of the early Church, but they are also true prophetically of our present world. We don’t have to look far to find stories of various levels of hatred and persecution of God’s children – all orchestrated by Satan. But as unpleasant as these times are, they are also opportunities to share the Light of Christ amidst the present darkness. May we continue prayerfully in Him and His Word – the enemy will flee from His presence!
