Dwelling In God’s House

If you want to live with God you need to actively show your love for Him.

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD
And to meditate in His temple.

Psalm 27:4 (NASB)

Today’s verse in Psalm 27 may seem like a bold one; can you imagine asking King Charles if you could live in his house? Yet here is David asking just that not of any earthly king, but of Almighty God. There certainly cannot be any greater thing to seek. If you want to live with God you need to actively show your love for Him, and your desire to be in close communion with Him every day. David certainly follows his desire with actions; serving God in his daily life and glorifying God before men.

Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Psalm 23:6

In the above verse from the Shepherd Psalm, we see the choice of David to follow a Godly life and his confidence in dwelling with God forever. What pleasure, comfort, and security is to be found dwelling in God’s house. In His presence we can experience His close presence, taking in the beauty of His holiness. In the holiness of that place we come to a temple where we can meditate on the innumerable blessings of being in His family.

Dear Reader, do you delight in God’s presence each day? Whatever this world gives us, good or bad, we can have confidence in God today and meeting Him someday in our Heavenly home. Our Father God is a loving Father, our reward is in His hand for us!
