It is always beneficial to bathe in and meditate on what the Lord desires to commune with you about. Many times, we have the agenda in the conversation. We can spend countless hours talking to God about a subject that is not on His heart or mind. I have learnt over the years in setting my heart to “learn his ways”, that it is ALWAYS best to lean into the “downloads” whether it be just one word, a sentence, paragraph or book HE downloads to you, rather than be fixated on trying to hear him on a subject matter of your choice.
Here’s why. It’s not that the Lord is not interested in what you are seeking Him about, and of course, seeking is a good thing, right? Yes, Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to ask and petition and request, and 1 Peter 5:7 exhorts us to cast our cares onto the Lord, because He cares about what concerns us. So I’m not saying don’t pray about your needs, or concerns, or issues and situations in your life. But what I am saying is “lean into” the theme of what the leading of the Holy Spirit is in how and what He is speaking in your life in your time with Him, waiting in Him in the word and prayer.
If you do, you will discover He is preparing you for the “good things” he has for you. What He may be wanting to talk to you about may seem left field and totally unrelated to what you think is important, necessary, or “on your mind” right now, or even different from what you WANT to talk to Him about. But believe me, He sees the bigger picture and is readying your heart for what’s next by what He is filling your heart with now.
Lean in, lean into the conversations He is having with you. What in the word is standing out to you? That is how he converses, through His word. I can’t emphasise this enough. You need to be in His word. Prayer is good, but just hearing the Lord alone in a prayer space can leave room for error. You need to feed your soul on scripture. How and where is he leading you in the scriptures? Let that word renew your mind, unlock truth that will set you free, and even bring a deliverance and healing to your life. Let it bring forth hope, understanding, and life!
Truth is the key, folks. We need our hearts anchored in the truth of God’s word.
Lean in, lean in, lean in and meditate on where the Holy Spirit is breathing on and let that word envelope you, stabilise you, heal you, protect your mind and give food to your soul and spirit man. Let the word become flesh in your life as you converse with Him about what’s on His heart and mind.
