Even those from afar shall come and build the temple of the Lord. Then you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. And this shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God. Zechariah 6:15
Promises are made all the time. Usually, promises are made with conditions attached to them. One makes a promise to do something for someone else as long as the other person does something specific. It is common that promises can be nullified if the conditions are not met.
Zechariah records God saying that many from afar will come to build the temple causing the people to know that God has sent him to them. He then says this shall occur if he diligently obeys the voice of God.
The world understands having conditions on promises. Contracts are made to people or businesses on a regular basis that are filled with both conditions and promises. Obligations for promises are broken when one side chooses not to fulfill the requirements.
People love to hear about the promises of God and claim them. They want to hear the good things that God will do for them. While they love to hear about the promises of God, many like to ignore the conditions of God’s promises. It is expected for God to do good things, while people choose to ignore His commands.
God’s promises of peace, protection, joy, and more usually come with a command for the believer to do something. Believers need to obey God’s command to repent of all sin and flee all sin. He also requires believers to fully trust in Him and His word. God also calls each believer to do some work in building His kingdom.
As the believer obeys God, they will see the promises of God come to pass.
You have made many promises to others and have had promises made to you. In most of those, there are most likely some conditions that need to be met in order for the promises to be fulfilled.
God has made promises to you. He is ready to fulfill many of those promises when you choose to diligently obey all of His commands to you. Put your trust in God and obey Him first and see Him do as He has promised to you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the commands God has given you; that you will obey all the commands of God; and that you will see God fulfill His promises to you.
