For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11 (NASB)
In recent mornings it has been lovely to see some sunshine and to feel the temperature rising into comfortable late spring levels. As a Celtic Christian at heart, God’s Creation is a real blessing to me; I feel it draws me closer to Him and guides me in His Word – all creation proclaims Him. As I write I am reminded of Psalm 19:1 which says “The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” There are few things as glorious as sunrise, especially by the sea; it is a gracious ascent of light and warmth. Sunset is a peaceful time, but sunrise is uplifting.
The sun brings light, warmth, and beauty to all creation, but especially to the soul of the believer – it is Father God’s grace in action each day. His grace provides our daily needs and reminds us of the promised glory when someday we ascend to be with Him. His grace and glory are eternally linked and shown to those who love His Son Jesus Christ.
Dear Reader, no matter what yesterday brought, today is a new day with new blessings. The sun set yesterday and rose upon a new day in Father God’s presence. If we are following Him and thankful for the new day, He will provide our daily manna – today’s verse proclaims this. Draw close to Him today, praising Him in all His glory – He is a loving Father indeed.
O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!
Psalm 84:12
