Crazy For God

Do not worry about what others think, but allow your heart to follow after God with extreme excitement.

“And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.” 2 Samuel 6:22

Being humiliated is something that most people do not like to have happen to them. It creates embarrassment and humbles a person. The majority of people will do some crazy things, and that will be slightly humiliating, but will not cross a line; they will only go so far.

The reason most people will only go so far is that they know people are watching them. They do not want to stand out as very different. Most people want to fit in with what others are doing, instead of going against the flow.

For a number of years, the ark of the covenant had not been in Bethlehem. David had his army go and get the ark back from the Philistines. As it was being brought into the city, David started dancing like crazy. He was jumping around with excitement, knowing the ark was back where it belonged.

His wife, Michal, saw him and was upset. She did not like how he acted, since David was the king of Israel. He was not acting properly for his position. David told her that he would act even more undignified and be humiliated in his own eyes.

David knew the value and importance of the ark of the covenant. He was willing to show his true emotions of extreme excitement at getting it back.

Although today, the ark is no longer used, there is God’s presence in a believer’s life. The believer can show extreme excitement for God when He shows up.

Many believers hold themselves in check. They want to be prim and proper around others. They do not have the extreme joy of knowing God in their lives. They do not want to stand out as different.

When God is present in your life, you will not care about what others are thinking. Your focus will be on God. You can become like a little child before God and show your love for Him in ways that are not always conventional.

This can be humiliating, because that is not the way most people do things or act. Yet, if it is done out of true love for God, it is great before God.

Do not worry about what others think, but allow your heart to follow after God with extreme excitement.

I pray today that you will know the joy of knowing Jesus; that you will know the excitement of having God in your life; that you will allow Jesus to be raised up as you are lowered; and that the world will see your love for God.
