Continue With Him

It is in difficult times that others need someone alongside them.

But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. Luke 22:28

Everyone knows someone who is going through an extremely difficult time. People often feel bad for their friends who have major trials in their life. Watching someone go through a difficult problem is hard for most people. They feel at a loss as to what to say or do, not knowing how to help or they are unable to help.

Luke records Jesus telling the disciples that they are the ones who had stayed by His side during His trials. He said this as He was about to be betrayed and crucified.

People like to have a good time and hear good news. When someone is only bringing negative news, most people begin to distance themselves. This is done because many don’t want to get caught up in a bad situation or they just don’t know what to say or do about it.

While a person is going through a very difficult situation one will learn who the true friends are. Casual friends will abandon and run away, while true friends will stay right beside the one hurting.

Although no one today will have to walk with Jesus through His physical crucifixion anymore, believers may need to walk with Him through similar trials in the lives of His followers. Believers will go through extreme trials in life as a followers of Jesus and many will abandon them in their time. They will distance themselves to keep from getting caught up in the same difficulty.

As with the disciples, believers are to continue alongside other believers and Jesus through both the good times and the bad times. One is not to abandon Jesus and His followers when times get rough. It is in difficult times that others need someone alongside them.

If you have ever gone through an extremely difficult trial in your life, you understand how you need others to stay by your side to support you. In the same way, others may need your support. Jesus expects you to walk with Him through every difficulty in life. He does not want you to abandon Him when the world is trying to tear you, others, or Himself down.

Remain faithful and true to Him during the trials of life in your own life and in the lives of other believers.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will continue with Jesus in difficult times; that God will guide you in staying by the side of other believers; that God will give you strength during the trials of life; and that you will not betray Jesus in any way.
