Let’s clear up a debate on CHRISTIAN DELIVERANCE…
To say deliverance isn’t Biblical is like saying schoolyard bullies aren’t real.
Would you ever say to a child…
“You can’t be bullied, you’re a member of the public school system.”
Or…
“You can’t be bullied by demons because you’re a saved believer.”
That’s ludicrous.
Bullies are not only real – they worsen if you openly follow Christ.
Are there bad deliverance ministries?
Absolutely.
Do I see this on the rise?
Sadly…yes. There’s a lot of mess floating around.
I blocked a few yesterday who came on my posts with non-biblical nonsense and who wouldn’t listen to reason. It makes my eyeballs itch because they get lumped in with those who are truly walking in The Spirit.
Is everything a demon?
Nope. It’s often a consequence of poor choices. We can’t discount our free will because we don’t like the results of our actions.
Sin is sin…and we have the free will choice to come into agreement with it. No demon is required. Hence why we are told to take every thought captive.
Should we be making up crazy names for demons we can’t find in scripture? Ummmm no. That’s silly…and makes us look and sound crazy.
Does everyone you don’t care for have a Jezebel spirit? Nope. This is completely overused and often a ridiculous accusation.
Now, with that said….
Are there bad teachings saying deliverance isn’t a “thing” for saved followers of Christ?
Absolutely – and that’s why people stay bound, miserable, ineffective, and powerless.
Let’s stop doing that.
We are children of God.
Demons are spirits without bodies.
They are demonic spirits.
Spiritual bullies.
They are LAWLESS.
THEY DO NOT BACK OFF BECAUSE SOMEONE IS SAVED, THEY RAMP UP.
To say a believer can’t be oppressed by demonic spirits is mind-boggling to me.
THAT’S THE DEMONIC SPIRIT’S JOB.
The enemy has a kingdom too, and they have roles and responsibilities.
Pretty sure their job description reads “Stop the truth of the gospel from going forth at all costs.”
The job is to keep a blood-bought-saved person – helpless by rendering them ineffective.
The only way for a blood-bought believer to be effective is for them to know their identity and to walk in it.
Do we think the demonic is more concerned with the unsaved sinner…or the people trying to pull them out of the fire?
CASTING OFF (or out) DEMONS IS NOT THE HEART OF DELIVERANCE MINISTRY. (although it’s absolutely part of the process)
KINGDOM IDENTITY IS THE HEART OF DELIVERANCE MINISTRY…true deliverance ministries anyway.
Many, many believers are CAPTIVES.
They’re saved people being held against their will.
For example: a saved person can be held CAPTIVE by addiction. This is demonic in nature. It doesn’t make THE PERSON DEMONIC. It doesn’t make the person UNSAVED. It renders them INEFFECTIVE IN THEIR CALLING.
A PRISONER, however, is ANY UNSAVED person bound and in the chains of sin. This is where POSSESSION comes into play.
Please read this verse and marinade in it….
ISAIAH 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me To bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives And freedom to prisoners,
Please stop saying deliverance isn’t in scripture. Deliverance is WHAT WE’VE BEEN TOLD TO DO.
PREACH THE GOOD NEWS TO THE LOST AND UNBIND AND EQUIP THE SAINTS!
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me
TOLD TO WALK IN OBEDIENCE
To bring good news to the humble and afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted,
HEALING – SOZO which is the BIBLICAL Greek word for SAVED, HEALED, DELIVERED, SET FREE
To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives
* They are already FREE they just don’t know their identity and don’t know the chains are off
And freedom to the prisoners
WE PREACH THE GOSPEL OF SALVATION TO THE PRISONERS. THE THIEF ON THE CROSS WAS A PRISONER AND JESUS SET HIM FREE BECAUSE HE CHOSE HIM. (FREE WILL)
When people say deliverance isn’t Biblical for a Christ follower – it’s safe to assume they don’t know their identity – or scripture – or both.
When people call everything a portal or a doorway to demons – it’s safe to assume they don’t know their identity – or scripture – or both.
For the love of the gospel…let’s stop punching each other in the gut over secondary issues.
Let’s look to scripture for all truth and make SALVATIONS first.
You, me, your pastor, your preacher, the worship leader, the deliverance minister, the elder, the deacon, the apostle, and the prophet aren’t the most important people in the room.
The unsaved are.
