Captured

My life was distorted and full of compromise before I captured the fullness of life in Christ.

Open the shutter of my soul, O Lord
so that all distortion is exposed
Help me process the negatives
so they can’t continue to grow

Help me to focus on what is just and true
as Your vision is the lens I long to look through
Help me to edit and delete the absurd
Help me with clarity when things become blurred

Help me reverse the false images I have
May they be corrected and beautifully enhanced
May You be the subject that I am drawn to
May You be the emphasis in all that I do

My life was distorted and full of compromise
before I captured the fullness of life in Christ
It’s not until I zoomed in that I could finally find
the dark room where the negatives were entering my mind

When we’re exposed to the truth and the setting is right
our lives become a reflection of the Spirit living inside
There is clarity and resolution; there’s depth and contrast too
We display faith in the One who gave His life for me and you

If you haven’t developed a relationship
with the One who gave His life for your soul
If there isn’t clarity about what Jesus has done
and how He makes you eternally whole

If you’ve never known about Jesus before
but want to know Him intimately
your opportunity is here and now
He is waiting for you to speak!

“Is anything worth more than your soul?” Mark 8:37

About the Author

Debbie always had a desire to write a book, but didn’t have a clue as to what the content could be. Children’s books and short stories piqued her interest most. She had dabbled with writing family-oriented poems, off and on over the years, but became overwhelmed with a hunger to write about God and His love in her late fifties. She started seeing God everywhere she looked whether it was in a deck of cards, movie titles, nursery rhymes, popular sayings, flower petals, or a baseball game. She finally realized that prophecy was being fulfilled when one of her sons told her that her poetry glorified God and was meant to be shared. The Lord’s words from an encounter in 2011 immediately returned to her. She had found her own way to speak about God just like He told her she would. Debbie is sharing her poetry in hopes that it will nourish and strengthen souls for the Kingdom of God. She refers to her poetic style as floetry, as it is the move of the Holy Spirit flowing from her heart to another. Her desire to flood the prisons with her book is due to God’s belief in her, and in her belief that no one can cast the first stone, but that everyone can help someone who is in desperate need of a Savior.
