Broken or Crushed?

The idea that Jesus is in control and has all authority is a foreign concept to the world.

Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder. Luke 20:18 A

A Large stone can be used to crush something or to break something, depending upon how the stone is used. Smashing something against the stone will only break it up into smaller pieces. Using the stone to crush and grind up something else will break the item down to powder. One has to determine what the desired outcome is to determine whether one wants the item to be crushed to powder or just broken down.

Luke records Jesus talking about the chief cornerstone. He said that whoever will fall upon that stone would be broken, but if it falls on someone, that person will be crushed and ground up to powder.

The world sees Jesus as just a good prophet or a good teacher and nothing more. While the world likes some of His teachings, they are quick to reject many of His teachings as too hard to accept. The idea that Jesus is in control and has all authority is a foreign concept to the world.

Those who do not recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior will continue to live in sin. It may appear that they are getting away with sin, but in the end, Jesus will judge them. His judgment will come down hard upon them and crush them to nothing.

When a person begins to realize who Jesus really is to be Lord and Savior then that person will be broken before Him. The holiness and purity of Jesus will reveal the horrible sin in one’s life, causing one to repent and turn from all sin. Self will be cast to the side and all authority handed over to God so that God can rebuild the person into the image of Jesus. One must choose to be broken or be crushed.

When you look at who Jesus is, you must ask yourself who you say He is to you. He is a solid rock that you must deal with one way or the other. Allow yourself to be broken upon Jesus. Get rid of self and sin and follow Jesus with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. If you do not allow yourself to be broken, you will be crushed in the end with eternal condemnation.

Will you be broken or crushed?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be broken on Jesus so that He can build you up in His image; that God will not have to crush you in the end; and that you will give Jesus all authority over your whole life.
