Being Chased Down

The moment you chose to become a believer, you became a target for the world to pursue.

So the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon. Exodus 8:14

Chasing someone down happens a lot. Sometimes, it is to get their attention for a good reason. It is common for someone to chase someone else down because something was forgotten on one side or the other. Other times people are chased down because they had done something wrong and needed to be caught. Being chased is not something most people desire to have happen to them.

After the Israelites left Egypt, Pharaoh grew angry and took all of his chariot and army and began to pursue the Israelites. Pharaoh began to overtake them near a sea.

Having someone that is angry chasing one down is not a good feeling. Anger will often bring about violence in one form or another. It can scare the person being chased, especially when one is innocent of any wrongdoing. People will do what they can to avoid being chased down.

The moment a person chooses to become a believer and leave the life of the sinful world, a pursuit begins to occur. The world does not like to lose any of its own and will begin to person the one that left.

Pursuit in this way is sending every type of temptation possible to get the believer to trip up and return to the worldly ways of sin and death. Temptations will arise on every side. It will appear as if the world is bigger and stronger than God, and hope will begin to disappear. People will be backed into a corner with no apparent way out.

Rather than fearing the enemy and the temptations, believers need to seek God’s direction. He will make a way to get out of the temptation and being captured by sin and this world.

The moment you chose to become a believer, you became a target for the world to pursue. Temptations will rise up and try to capture you and your heart. The world will do whatever it can to stop you from believing in and following God. Make it your choice today to not give in to the pursuit of temptations. The world may appear big and strong, but God is bigger and stronger and can make a way out, giving you victory over the world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to the pursuit of the world; that God will show you a way out of all temptation; that God will give you victory over the world; and that God will remove all fear of the attacks of the enemy.
