Are You Asking For a Sign

If a person would just take a moment to look around one would see signs of God everywhere.

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. Matthew 16:1

People love to have proof of the authority of another person. They want to see some type of sign that proves the person is legitimate and can do or say what is being said or done. Others will want to have proof that the person really knows what is being said. These types of signs often come in college degrees, or some other experience that can be proven and shows the person’s abilities.

Matthew records how the Pharisees and Sadducees came up to Jesus to test Him by asking Him for a sign from heaven.

All over the world, there are people who like to imitate others. They dress up in a uniform that makes them look like someone that they are not. As a result, people are often skeptical about who someone appears to be. Many times, people have been scammed and hurt badly by someone faking their identity.

People are often asking God for a sign from heaven as to who He is and if He is real. If a person would just take a moment to look around one would see signs of God everywhere. All of creation is so complex that there is no possible way that all of creation could happen by chance. Creation shouts out that there is a God and that He is in control and is all-powerful.

If God can create this entire planet and all the people on it, He is powerful enough to fulfill all of His promises in the Bible. He is also powerful enough to remove all sin and give a person eternal life.

Creation is His proof that His word will come true. True believers will not need a sign from heaven to believe His word.

You may be wondering if you can trust God’s word to you. Some things He may be saying are too wonderful or sound impossible to occur. Questioning this may cause you to test God by asking for a sign when you know it is true. Look at all the things around you and see how great God is. Remember how many times God has already answered your prayers and did as He promised. Do not test God and question His abilities but trust Him and see all the signs already around you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see God is real; that you will see all the signs in creation of who He is; and that you will trust God’s abilities to fulfill all of His promises; and that you will see God do great things in your life.
