Above the Storm

Recently, I was experiencing some intense warfare one day and so I got into the place of prayer and began contending for breakthrough. As I prayed, I could feel the weight of the warfare but could also sense the victory that would be on the other side of this warfare. As I continued to pray, the Lord spoke to me with such reassurance in His voice. He said to me, “You have to pray above the storm.”

As soon as I heard this, it increased my faith and the intensity of my prayers began to rise. The image that came into my head as I prayed was of looking up at storm clouds and then rising above them until I reached the clear sky above them and could see the storm happening below me instead of being in the midst of it. I prayed for a long while and then felt the breakthrough come forth. I did not stop praying until I knew I had prayed through and had prayed above the storm.

This is exactly what God is calling so many of His people to do in this season. If you are experiencing warfare and can sense the attacks of the enemy against you in this season, I want to encourage you to get in the place of prayer and intercede until you know you have risen above the storm.

Matthew 7:24-27 says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

My friends, the storms of life will come and go and that is why you must ensure that your foundation is built upon the rock. The enemy is able to take out too many because of their poor foundation. Do not let this be said of you! Especially in this season, get with the Lord, humble yourself before Him and ask the Holy Spirit to show you where your foundation may be weak. You must be determined not to be one that falls with a great crash. Be determined in this season to be one that is still standing after every single storm because you are built on Jesus Christ, the rock of your salvation.

In this season, set your face like flint and pray above the storm. One of the things that sets eagles apart from other birds is that they will fly high enough to get above the storm when it comes, while other kinds of birds will fly lower, trying to avoid the storm. This is your season to mount up on wings of eagles and get above the storm, above the noise and into the heavenly places with God so that you can go from victory to victory!

Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Just as this scripture says, I want to charge you today to not give in to discouragement or fear in this season. God is with you and has gone before you. You will not fail.

The word of God says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, God raises a standard. Attacks and warfare may catch you off guard. You may even feel like, at times, the enemy is surrounding you, but nothing catches God off guard. He is with you and He is for you. All you have to do is stay in there with Him and watch Him make a way where there seems to be none!

Pray above the storm in this season. Don’t allow the enemy to take you out by wearing you down. You keep fighting, keep pressing, and keep contending for all the things God has promised you because you are about to see them come to pass! Fly high and get above the fray until you can see what Heaven does, my friends!
