A Conditioned Faith

There are mornings I must talk myself into such early morning obedience.

Posted on

Spending time on my stationary exercise bike has taught me something about the life of faith. Being faithful does not always mean we are going somewhere. Being faithful in the small things day in and day out conditions us for those times when we need to move under the direction of the Spirit to accomplish more than an unconditioned life of faith could imagine.

In a few minutes, I will choose to spend time on my stationary bike. There are mornings I must talk myself into such early morning obedience. While the exercise bike is going nowhere, I will experience the results of that training the next time I hike the trails above our home, where my legs and lungs will be able to aid in the ascend of the steep trails. That ascent will bring me to my favorite summit, where I am able to view a more expansive vista that only a conditioned body, and faith, can see.
