Heaven’s Dress Code

If we are suitably attired, God will provide wisdom and protection against the works of the enemy.

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
Proverbs 2:7 (NASB1995)

Do you have to obey a dress code, be it at work or maybe school? We see dress codes in many places; in the sheriff or high court, hospitals, and funeral homes, to name a few. There is a dress code expected at certain nightclubs, where casual wear is forbidden. Churches can have an unwritten dress code… try turning up in casual dress and see the proof of it. Dress code is historical; the Pharisees in the Bible and others in the ruling elite judged those who did not follow it, such as the friends and disciples of our Lord. Our verse today speaks of another dress code, a Heavenly one for those who seek Godly wisdom.

Read the verse again, you will see that God stores wisdom for those in the right clothes – those who wear uprightness, and He is a shield for those who walk in integrity. They are the holy attire of those who worship and follow God. This reminds us of the armour of God that His children wear against spiritual warfare waged by our enemy, Satan (Ephesians 6:14-16). If we are suitably attired, God will provide wisdom and protection against the works of the enemy.

Father God guards the “path of justice” before us, preserving our path ahead (Proverbs 2:8). As well as His presence and armour, we have the gift of holy wisdom – an endowment of righteousness, justice, and equity, a pleasant tasting heavenly honey (Proverbs 2:9-10).

Dear Reader, are you dressed in His righteous word each day? Follow the Heavenly dress code and walk righteously in His wisdom today.
