God Wants to Be Your God

Make the choice to accept Jesus and make God your God.

Genesis 17:7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Genesis 17:7

Agreements are made all the time between two different parties to overcome differences and to be at peace with each other. Both sides agree to something so that both sides win something. Once the agreement is made, it is often binding forever unless there is a date set for it being terminated.

God came to Abram and wanted to establish a new covenant with him and his descendants that would last forever. This covenant was to be God to him and his descendants forever.

People often think of covenants or treaties to be only between large businesses or nations, not directly having anything to do with themselves. Yet, people go into agreements all the time with friends, neighbors, co-workers, and others. Usually, these agreements are for a set time frame, during a certain circumstance in life.

While people make these agreements with others, they do not feel that God really wants to make a covenant with them. He is seen as out there and untouchable, only for the special ones.

God made a covenant with Abram that was to be everlasting. That same covenant is available to every person to this day. In order to make that covenant God sent Jesus to die upon the cross so that anyone who believes in Him could be a part of that covenant. It is an established covenant available to anyone who is willing to repent of all sin and believe on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At that point, God will be with the person for all eternity and be that person’s God.

You have come into many different agreements with other people throughout your life. All of those agreements are temporary and will come to an end someday. God wants to come into agreement with you and be your God for all eternity. Make the choice to accept Jesus and make God your God. Agree to His terms and He will give you eternal life. God will never leave you or break the terms of the contract as long as you continue to believe and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This will be for you and for anyone else who also believes with you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that allow God to be your God; that you will agree to the terms God has set before you; and that you will allow God to lead you in every area of your life.
