Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.
Ecclesiastes 11:6 (NASB)
People in church will often ask when is the best time to share the gospel, whether in word, deed, or the distribution of tracts. Today’s scripture verse answers that question in a direct way – there is no bad time to sow gospel seeds. Because we are the sowers in God’s kingdom, we do not know whether morning or evening is best; the soil has been prepared by another before us, and God knows when the soil is ready for His gospel seeds. He knows when that seed will flourish, grow, and produce a good yield for His Kingdom.
As children of God, we only need to know that our Father knows when and who to share the gospel with; this was the message of Adam Clarke when he wrote, “it is enough that God knoweth.” He also recommended that we need to be sure that our motives for sharing are Godly; to share His pure love saving lost souls for the Kingdom.
Dear Reader, time on this world is short – every time is seed-sowing time. We just need to be willing to be used by God at any time, even on the least likely occasions. Believe me, some of the most joyous experiences sharing the Good News are those that come by surprise. May God bless you as you sow His Good News today!
