Where Does the Seed Fall?

Now that the seed of God’s word has been planted in your life, what will you do with it?

Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. Mark 4:3

During planting season seeds are placed into the ground to grow. In modern times, many seeds are specifically placed individually in specific locations. Those who plant the seeds need to take into consideration where they plant the seeds. Seeds need to be placed in soil that is ready for the seeds and will provide the exact nutrition to allow them to grow and produce the desired vegetable. If it is not in the right soil, the seed will die never producing anything.

Mark records Jesus speaking a parable about a sower. Jesus tells the people to listen and then says that a sower went out to sow some seed.

In ancient times, people who planted seeds would just toss handfuls of seeds across the ground. The seeds would land on all types of ground. Depending on where the seed fell, would determine how well it would grow and produce the desired produce.

God’s word is a seed to be tossed out for all to hear. Every person needs to hear the word of God to give them the opportunity to believe in Jesus. Not every seed will fall on good ground in the hearts of the people.

One needs to be good soil, open to hearing God’s word and doing something with it. Many hear God’s word and talk about it, but do not allow it to change their lives. They do not go out and spread His word any further in order to bring more to Jesus.

As one accepts God’s word and allows it to change the heart, one will be willing to pass on the seed and build more disciples of Jesus. The person becomes a changed creation, one who now builds God’s kingdom as rapidly as possible.

You have been given the opportunity to hear God’s word spoken to you. Now that the seed of God’s word has been planted in your life, what will you do with it?

Do not allow yourself to ignore it or allow the cares of this temporary world to overwhelm you so that you reject it after a while. Do something with His word. Pass it on to others until all the world has heard of Jesus. Reproduce what has been done in your life by giving others an opportunity to hear of Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear God’s word spoken to you; that you will act upon the word spoken in your life; and that you will produce more fruit for God at every opportunity possible.
