Seeking Solace

Prayer to our Father can be silent too, from the heart or even through tears – He hears them all.

Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice,
And be gracious to me and answer me.

Psalm 27:7 (NASB)

In the first six verses of this psalm, we have meditated upon the confidence of the child of God in Him. In verses seven to twelve, we find the prayers/petitions of the believer; hear me LORD v.7, will seek Your face v.8, do not hide Your face from me v.9, teach me, lead me v.11, and preserve me LORD in v.12. In today’s verse David beseeches God to hear his voice in prayer, but prayer to our Father can be silent too, from the heart or even through tears – He hears them all.

But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself;
The LORD hears when I call to Him.
Psalm 4:3

Psalm 4:3 tells us an important detail; we know that God hears all prayers, but the prayers from His godly ones (in His family through Jesus Christ His Son) are given priority – they are “set apart” from the world.

Dear Reader, if you are a child of God saved through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, we can come confidently to God in prayer for all our needs. What’s more, we can publically proclaim our confidence in God’s Gracious answering of our prayers; particularly with those who are unbelievers who would do us harm – what a testimony! Thus the theme of confidence carries on into our petitions to our Father God – pray confidently brethren!

Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,
For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
The LORD has heard my supplication,
The LORD receives my prayer.
Psalm 6:8-9
