Are you “good enough” to be called “Saint”?
Let’s look to Corinth.
The Christ-followers in Corinth were a hot mess.
AN ABSOLUTE FLAMING HOT MESS
Among the myriad of problems in the Corinthian church here are a few highlights:
Claims of spiritual superiority over one another (pride)
Suing one another in public courts (division)
Unworthily taking the bread and wine that represents the body of the Lord Jesus Christ (unforgiveness)
Sexual sin (speaks for itself)
Yet, Paul still called them SAINTS.
Why? How? How were they still called saints?
THEIR SALVATION WAS NOT BASED ON THEIR WORKS!
Hear me….back slider
Hear me….addict
Hear me….prodigal
Hear me child of God…shackled in shame
JESUS’ BLOOD IS STRONGER THAN YOUR WORST DAY!
JESUS’ BLOOD IS GREATER THAN YOUR GREATEST SIN!
Jesus is the standard of HOLINESS.
Not your pastor.
Not your Facebook friends.
Not the leader of your small group.
Not the people who appear to have it all together….because trust this.
THEY DON’T.
JESUS.
JESUS IS THE STANDARD.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE STANDARD FOR HOLINESS.
THIS IS WHY WE MUST COME ROBED IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!!
We are all level at the foot of the cross my friend.
I deserve that cross, and so do you.
BUT GOD!
For God SO LOVED us.
He SO wanted to reconcile us, that He sent His Son to bridge the eternal gap.
Without HIM not one of us would enter the kingdom. The most righteous man on earth couldn’t stand before God.
Not even one.
Your bad day, your bad month, your bad year…isn’t a surprise to God.
He just wants you to come home.
He has a ring and a robe with your name on it.
He does.
If you focus on your sin and shortcomings you will be kept in THE SHACKLES AND CHAINS of SHAME and FEAR.
That’s the enemy’s game.
CHRIST AND CHRIST ALONE MADE YOU WORTHY.
HE IS SEATED ON… THE MERCY SEAT.
When you focus on JESUS, Holy Spirit will change you.
It isn’t ME renewing my mind.
It is THE RENEWING of our minds.
You can’t renew your own mind, and neither can I.
My friend, you are incapable of changing yourself.
FOCUS ON THE SON.
FOCUS ON THE BLOOD.
FOCUS ON THE WORD.
FOCUS ON THE KINGDOM.
FOCUS ON YOUR NEW IDENTITY.
Stop running from The Father, and start running towards Him!
AND YOU WILL BE CHANGED.
Your desires will change.
Your thoughts will change.
Your flesh will start to die.
Your spirit man will gain new strength.
I am not condoning our sin.
I am showing you THE WAY out.
His name is Jesus.
You will never be perfect.
Not ever.
But He is.
AND JESUS IS ENOUGH!
