Kingdom Winds Collective member and poet Sharon Swain is releasing her next book, her second with Kingdom Winds: Walking in Favor, Stepping into Grace.
This beautifully illuminated collection of poetry takes the reader on a journey Sharon herself experienced with these lovely poems as a result. On Sharon’s path out of “darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9), she explores her identity in Christ as she reflects on God’s character in His peace, His power, His praise, His presence, and His purpose. Each poem is issued from Sharon’s experience and is paired with Scriptures to help the reader explore the Truth of God’s Word as it applies to the subject of the poem.
By the close of this book, the reader is certain of two things: God is so very good, and He loves you. You’ve walked the path with Sharon, and its conclusion is resting in your identity as “chosen… and dearly loved” by God (Colossians 3:12) and worshiping God the Father who calls you His own.
Whether you read for pure pleasure or as a devotional tool, Walking in Favor, Stepping into Grace by Sharon Swain, will draw you closer to the Father and encourage you to rest in His love. One of the poems in this collection, the one that inspires its name, represents the work as a whole rather well:
“Once upon a time ago, the Savior came
And made you whole.
For many years, you worked for Him
And thought that helped to cover sin.
You lost your joy; your passion waned.
You wondered if His love remained.
And then one day, you heard the news:
He took your sin and made you new.
You are in Christ; you’re new within.
Now you’re steppin’ out and steppin’ in.
Steppin’ out from guilt and shame
And steppin’ in to claim His Name.
Knowing that you’re one with Him,
You’re steppin’ out and steppin’ in.
Steppin’ out of feeling wrong
And steppin’ in, you do belong.
Steppin’ out, give up the fight;
And steppin’ in, you are alright.
You’re listening now to what He says;
You no longer fear or have to dread.
You’re steppin’ out from where you’ve been,
Steppin’ into His Life within.
You’re steppin’ out of lies you’ve heard,
And steppin’ in to believe His Word.
Steppin’ out, no longer stressed,
Steppin’ in to trust and rest.”
No matter what you’re stepping out of, God invites you to step into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9) and glorious grace (Ephesians 1:6). Allow Sharon to come alongside you along your way with her insightful poetry that encourages you to lean into the Truth of Who God is and the Truth of His Word.
