The Connection

Until I blew the dust off of my Bible and began to read it, I had no clue of His truth.

As I was looking at a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, I heard the Lord ask me, “What do you see?  I waited for an answer and heard, “Stay connected and be a bridge.”

As I looked closer at the image, there is a disconnect, a pulling away from the link of the fence; there’s a hole. Within that hole is the bridge–Put Jesus in that hole.  He is the bridge that fills in the gap and makes us whole.

Feeling connected is what humanity wants.  I love connections! Webster’s Dictionary says, “a connection denotes a relationship in which a person, thing or idea is linked or associated with something or someone.”

Yes, we can be linked with one another.  I’m not talking about our natural family, but I’m speaking about people that have come into your life that there is a special connection with.  There is a common belief or a special bond or link that you feel with them.  Already, some people have come into your mind.

Pay attention to these types of connections, they may be divine connections by God for us.  He is the great connector and networker.

There is a connection between God’s love and election.  What does that mean?  Let’s break this scripture down.  Paul was saying,

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.” (2 Thessalonians 2: 13)

Do you believe that God chose you?  Yes!  We have been elected, chosen.

What did He choose you for?  To be saved through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

How do we do that?  When we come to Christ, we are saved.
Then we allow the Holy Spirit to do His work.  If He points out sin, acknowledge it, repent and turn from it.

What else?  Believe and walk in His truth.  Until I blew the dust off of my Bible and began to read it, I had no clue of His truth.  I found amazing strength and answers to questions that I have had since I was a young gal.  All it took was for me to open and read.  Before I read, I asked Holy Spirit to help me understand and to teach me what I was to learn.  He is our teacher.  And the rest is history!

God not only chose us, but He also called us.  What’s the difference?
A theologian writes, first, “There is a general call that goes out to everyone: ‘Come. If you believe, you will be saved.’  Second, the call creates the obedience, the call creates the life, and, therefore, all the called will be glorified.”   (John Piper)

  • The called become the chosen.

Let look at what this says, “He called you to this through the gospel that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (2 Thessalonians 2: 14)

  • We get to share in the glory of Jesus.

What’s our job in all of this?  Stand firm and hold to the teachings.

I encourage you all, as Paul exhorted, “May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”  (2 Thessalonians 2: 16-17)

  • We have been blessed with eternal encouragement.
  • Every good deed we embark on, all the things we do for the Lord, we need to be strengthened to endure.

God Desires Connections Of Peace

As Isaiah is speaking to Israel he is saying how the Lord will punish by His sword the wicked nations.  Yet, He desires a connection that those would, “Come to me for refuge; let them make peace with me; yes, let them make peace with me.”  (Isaiah 27: 5)

Here’s a promise we are connected to:

In that day, the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.:  (Isaiah 28: 5)

No matter what, “The Lord Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.”  (Isaiah 28: 29)

God Delights In And Is Connected In Thanksgiving

Whoever we have been connected to in our life, be thankful.  His connected help to us sustains us.

I was pushed back and about to fail, but the Lord helped me.  The Lord is my strength and my song, He has become My salvation.”  (Psalm 118:  13-14)

He Sustains Us In Our Connections

Enjoy when He sustains.  “The Lord’s right hand had done mighty things!  The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”  (Psalm 118: 15-16)

How do we respond?  Give thanks for the answers.  “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”  (Psalm 118: 29)

His Connections Nourish Us

When we are connected to Christ, He is the head of the body.  He holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

  • The body needs to be connected to support each other as we grow.
  • Stay connected by His love.
