Strongholds

Recently, in a time of corporate prayer, the Lord spoke to me in such a clear and almost even stern way. He said, “I intend for strongholds to come down.” This word immediately grabbed a hold of me and I knew that this was an important word for many in the body of Christ in this season. There are many different strongholds in people’s lives and families but there are also strongholds over geographical locations, such as regions and even nations.

I believe what God is saying to His people in this season is that He wants to partner with us to bring down the strongholds of the enemy that have been keeping people and even nations from what He has for them. 

As I prayed into this word from the Lord I was reminded that there are several ways God brings down strongholds. Sometimes God brings sudden breakthrough with a mighty display of His power. Other times we stand with Him, in the power and authority given to us as believers and we see those strongholds be destroyed.

2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We live each day in the flesh and world.” The divine power that this scripture is referring to is heavenly power to destroy strongholds of the enemy.

The power of God has been made available through Jesus, and especially in this season, we must stand in that power and authority that God has given to us. When you walk in the authority and sonship we have in Christ we are like a conduit for all of God’s miraculous power to do the impossible! God is looking for those who can be used by Him in mighty and powerful ways to bring forth His will in every situation we encounter.

In another translation, 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” This means that God has given to us the ability to not only discern when the enemy has established a stronghold but that we also are empowered by God to bring them down!

Remember, the word that God spoke to me was that He intends for strongholds to come down. We have the divine power of God that will destroy every stronghold of the enemy that may attempt to hinder what God wants to do in your life, family, ministry, business, region, or nation. We are heaven’s ambassadors sent to bring the Kingdom of God into the earth and to see God’s will established here!

So, I want to encourage you, especially in this season, to get before the Lord and ask Him to first bring down any strongholds that the enemy may have established over your life. This could be wrong mindsets, harmful ways of thinking, a natural perspective, limiting beliefs, or lies of the enemy. Whatever it may be, God will reveal it to you as you seek Him in the place of prayer.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” When we are daily renewing our mind then we begin to operate with a Kingdom mindset and it transforms everything about us. Then we are able to discern the will of God and partner with Him to bring it forth.

Now more than ever, we must exercise our faith and believe that when we quote the word of God or declare a prophetic word over a situation then change will happen!

The word of the Lord for this hour is that those strongholds of the enemy are coming down! Don’t grow weary in well doing or in intercession. God sees you and hears your prayers. Heaven is with you! Stand in the authority and power God has given you and watch what God will do in and through your life in this season. The spirit of the Lord is moving in a powerful way in this season and you can be a part of it. Strongholds are coming down!
