In prayer, I saw an image of believers who had experienced a fresh outpouring of the new wine of God’s Spirit. They did not just taste the new wine. It was poured upon them, drenching them from head to toe in a fresh experience with Jesus. When they returned to the Church’s current structure, their wine-soaked shoes left a trail of new wine on the floor, staining the understanding of what people thought the Church should look like.
When they returned to the Church with a newfound joy, their presence created offense with those unwilling to change. They were offered new shoes and clothing unstained by the new wine, but they were so filled with the joy of the Lord, they could not imagine disrobing and returning to a religiously clean and tidy expression of their faith. They were told to leave until they were willing to change their attire so their presence would not stain the Church.
A new wine is arriving. It will create havoc in the way the Church is represented. The new wine that soaked these individuals will leave tracks on the current structure of what people have assumed the Church should look like. As it is with each new revelation of the Lord’s presence, His drenching presence in and upon us will become an offense to those who have settled for a clean and respectable form of faith at the expense of experiencing something new.
Do not become defensive at what you will experience when this time comes. It will be a moment where the presence of the new wine will redefine us and allow us to find a place where His new wine and its effects will be welcomed. All of this is a precursor for revival.
