Sheltering in Place in God’s Presence

Only God’s Spirit can provide us with real peace and lead us to the right place at the right time.

Many are watching the developments taking place in politics and the reinterpretation of social norms. People are feeling uncertain about the future. Some of the evaluations regarding those issues are correct, but they should not take the primary lead in determining our peace or where we choose to live. Only God’s Spirit can provide us with real peace and lead us to the right place at the right time.

God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. Human settlements are unstable and ever-changing. They are an unreliable demographic for revelation and direction. They will eventually change over time, not always for the better. The influx of differing worldviews can change what today is interpreted as a political and social Shangri-La into a nightmare of regret. What currently looks like a place filled with like-minded individuals can quickly morph to become the very thing someone chose to flee in the first place.

This is not a stable moment in world history. This is a time to take only measured steps under the leading of God’s Spirit and not yield to the offerings of fear or false hope. Like any cultural explosion, a time will come when the dust finally settles. Until then, only God can provide us with the clarity needed to make wise decisions whether to leave or stay in a place or a relationship. In the end, it is only the Lord’s presence that can offer us true peace and security no matter where we live or what is taking place in the world.
