If God is cleaning His house, do we recognize the REFUSE He is taking out? If God is separating the holy from the profane, do we recognize that which He REFUSES to allow on His altar? Do we recognize the strange fires that have been offered in His name? Are we warming our hands around a ring of fellowship that has been compromised by selfish ambition and pride?
There are sacred cows in God’s house that have become idols of men. Idols that have formed due to a fascination with personalities and platforms. Idols that have gained prominence in His house by their flashy appearance and fleshly appeal. In our desperation to experience His glory, we have created gods of our own making. But do we recognize what we’ve been worshiping and fixing our gaze upon? Are we looking to the vessels instead of the Maker? Are we defending men of flesh or the God who made them?
Some declare, “…touch not my anointed!” but God says, “There shall be no other gods before Me!” Do not mistake a mantle for His glory. Men have corrupted His glory and taken it unto themselves. Claiming to be above accountability, some would declare they are untouchable. Clinging to their gifts and calling attention to their notoriety, they appeal to our insatiable hunger for spiritual power. And yet they carry strange fire. They spew words that stir and entice but are void of God’s favor and blessing. Know the difference!
The knife that is cutting through His house is no respecter of persons. God does not set aside our favorites. He does not overlook compromise or spiritual corruption to salvage men’s reputations. Nor will He allow His anointing to be weaponized by those who only seek the glory for themselves. He is a holy God, and NO ONE can touch His glory. No one is above His discipline or correction. And because of the buildup of dung in His pantry, the stench can no longer be tolerated. No prophet or apostle, teacher or pastor, or any other leader in God’s house will escape His cleansing wrath.
Not all are as complicit, but all must pass through the fire. All will be tested and tried to see what idols they have created and what kind of fire they carry. The fires of men may carry passion and zeal, but they will burn with contempt and ego. They will incite a man-centered vengeance that is void of humility or a fear of the Lord. For their fires do not ignite greater holiness or purity within God’s people. They only seek to draw attention to themselves in order to protect their domain.
Those who carry the fire of God burn with a different fuel. They are not stirred by self-protection or a need to be seen. They burn with a purity of heart that seeks the good of the Father’s house above their own. Their zeal is not to defend the champions of men, but the holiness of God. They recognize the golden calves and refuse to bow. Their allegiance is to God alone.
Yes, the fires of God are sweeping through His house, and many are feeling the burn. But the fires of men will only destroy our faith and lure us to lesser things. The fire of God will bring us to our knees in godly sorrow and humble repentance. Know the difference, and let it burn.
