Resurrection Power and Death to Self

There can be no Resurrection Power without death, which is why Paul the Apostle said, “I die daily!”

While nobody likes dying to self, I have found out over the years that the more that I die to my will and personal agenda, the more that I begin to see the Resurrection Power of the Holy Spirit enveloping my life!

“[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him, and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].” Philippians 3:10-11

Knowing the Power Outflowing from Jesus’s Resurrection isn’t just the idea of coming into contact with some Supernatural Force, but it is a coming into a Divine Encounter with the Person of the Holy Spirit!

“And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11

While many believe that the Power of God is just the Heavenly Father exerting His Will upon something, I have found that the Holy Spirit is not just some action of Gods Power, but He is the Third Person of the Godhead that comes with His Powerful Influence upon my behalf, especially when I pickup my cross, deny myself and follow Jesus’s Instructions when He speaks to my heart!

As He comes, He doesn’t just empower my life, He comforts me, encourages me, strengthens me, and even quickens my mortal body the more that I submit myself to Jesus Christ and His Will for my life!

While many think that Resurrection Power only operates at the end of the Age when Jesus Christ returns and the dead in Christ are raised first, I’ve come to understand that Resurrection Power operates in my life every day, but especially when I’m operating as His Witness!

“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be MY WITNESSES in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.” Acts 1:8

The word “WITNESSES” here is the Greek word “MARTUS,” and it is where we get the word “MARTYRS” from. While some of us may truly become martyred for the faith physically, all of us are called to become dead to self and alive in Jesus Christ!

It is when I learn to truly allow the Life of God to be my life that I begin to see the Resurrection Power of the Holy Spirit operating through my life the way that I desire Him to, but it ultimately comes through my death to myself.

There can be no Resurrection Power without death, which is why Paul the Apostle said, “I die daily!” (1 Cor. 15:31)

While many desire to see God’s Power moving through their lives, it only comes when we’re willing to lay down our wills, our plans, our agendas, and our lives for the sake of Jesus Christ.

If today you’re looking for Resurrection Power and the Holy Spirit’s Presence, start listening to His Voice and doing what He tells you, because the more you obey, the more His Power will manifest ON YOUR LIFE, IN YOUR LIFE, AND THROUGH YOUR LIFE!
