Hey friends, welcome back to Purpose Beyond Motherhood! We’re so glad you’re here for an honest conversation about grief, lament, and how God meets us in our hardest moments.

Today, we sit down with our friend, Clayr Simnacher, who shares her journey through loss, sorrow, and the practice of lament. Clayr, a counseling psychology professor, opens up about compound grief and navigating uncertainty. Even as a counselor, she has found herself at times asking the same raw question so many of us have: God, do you see me?

Clayr walks us through the biblical practice of lament—how it allows us to bring our deepest pain before God, trusting that He is near even when we don’t see the end of the story. She reminds us that grief isn’t weakness or punishment but an invitation to draw closer to Him.

One quick note: Clayr references Psalm 13 but actually quotes from Psalm 22— This moment is a powerful reminder that even when we feel abandoned, we can bring our raw emotions before God—just as David did.
