In This Hour

All is within your power,
and yet, this cup remains;
and so, I beg you
Take this cup from me.

This hour is dark.

The night is cold.

My spirit wills,

My flesh rebels.

To stand?

To fight?

To walk away?

The choice must now be made.

I fall before you;

overwhelmed.

Deepest sorrow,

Death is close at hand.

Others vow to walk with me.

Fierce spirits,

Weak flesh.

In my hour, I am all alone.

All is within your power,

and yet, this cup remains;

and so, I beg you

Take this cup from me.

I go a little farther,

I know there’s a purpose.

I know you have brought me to this hour.

Still, the day is looming,

my heart cries out in anguish.

I beg of you to find another way.

Then through the storm, I hear your voice.

It whispers to my soul,

and thunders through my grief.

“Look beyond this hour,

to the joy that’s set before you.

This cup has been prepared for you alone.”

Deepest love, words of hope;

my spirit rises strong.

Pain and fear and sorrow lose their power.

Not just a little further,

I must go all the way.

The joy that waits before me gives me strength.

Here and now, the choice is made.

Not my will, but yours.

Death shall have no victory.

Light was made to rule the day.

In every moment, every breath;

“Father, glorify your name!”
