Some time ago the Holy Spirit showed me an impression of a ship with no motor, only sails, and a mast. This ship was completely dependent upon the wind in order to go anywhere.
This particular impression happened to me while I was attending a local church in my area which was struggling in many ways. During one service, after attending this fellowship for some time, the Holy Spirit caught me away and dropped me upon the deck of this 18th-century sailing vessel.
This ship was in a very still cove, filled with crystal clear waters, but its sails were rolled up and its anchor was down. As I began to wander around this vessel during this encounter, I began to hear voices coming from the ship’s hold. When I opened the hatch to the hold of the ship, (which appeared deserted at first), I found the ship’s hold filled with the members of the church.
The craziest part of this impression wasn’t that all of these people were found in the hold of the ship, the craziest part was what they were saying together in perfect unison, “SEND THE WIND LORD, SEND THE WIND!”
As I listened to this declaration over and over, I realized that what they were declaring did not line up with the current posture of their circumstances, because the Anchor was down and their sails were rolled up. Regardless of whether the Wind was blowing or not, they weren’t going to go anywhere.
The anchor had FEAR written upon it in big bold letters and the rolled-up sails had the word CONTROL written upon them. Unless they were to cut off FEAR and release CONTROL of their lives to Jesus Christ then no matter how much wind of the Holy Spirit comes their way they won’t go anywhere.
Our confession and declaration need to be accompanied by the posture of our lives. When we submit ourselves to fear and control then those things will often restrict us from the Leading of the Holy Spirit and where He’s attempting to take us.
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, TO MAKE A DECISIVE DEDICATION OF YOUR BODIES AS A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1
Becoming a living Sacrifice is the work of the Cross in our personal lives which cuts off fear’s ability to hold us back and control’s ability to restrict our movements going forward.
Our ability to release control of our lives to Jesus and allow Perfect Love from the Father to cut off our fear gives the Holy Spirit permission to unfurl the sails of our lives and then bring the Breath of God to Supernaturally Fill them.
Are the circumstances of your life finding themselves out of Alignment with your declarations? Maybe part of the reason why you’re not experiencing what you’re petitioning God for right now is because of what you’re attempting to hang onto currently.
We must let go of the past chapter of our journey so that the Holy Spirit can begin writing the future Encounters and Experiences of our lives. If you’re asking for the Wind of the Holy Spirit to fill your sails today, then you must release control of them to the Lord so that He can fill them!
Don’t allow FEAR AND PERSONAL CONTROL to keep you from the journey that He has for you! Cut the anchor of Fear away and watch as the Holy Spirit begins to blow you into deeper places of your Destiny going forwards.
