His Foundation Set

Just like Mary, our call hasn’t changed, the place we were called to is IN HIM!

Where is our foundation?  Where are we grounded and where will we be established forever?

The answer is:  As a believer, in the city of God, Jerusalem, Mount Zion.  God has promised, “He has set His foundation on the holy mountain; the Lord loves the gates of Zion.  (Psalm 87: 1-2)  Zion is another name for Jerusalem.

Glorious things are said of you, O city of God.  (Psalm 87: 3)

The Psalmist is foreseeing the ingathering of the nations into Zion as fellow citizens with Israel in the kingdom of God.

God has a special love for Zion.  He has said, “As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.”  (Psalm 87: 7)  All that refreshes them (us) is found in the city of God.  We all sprang from you!

Our Judeo Christian roots are rooted in Israel, in Jerusalem.  One day, our Savior will take us to that place as heaven comes to earth, as your foot stands upon the foundation of that place.  Your kingdom shall reign in the city of our God.  Those who love God should love Israel. It’s our homeland.

On our first trip to Israel, as soon as the plane touched down in Tel Aviv, I heard the Lord say, “Welcome Home!”  Not fully understanding what He was saying, I wondered if we were to relocate there.

Yes, one day, as His beloved children, we will be transported (relocated) there to the City of our God.  “For with you is the fountain of life; into your light we see light.”  (Psalm 36: 9)

Our Foundation In The Garden

Jesus asked a very important question as He appeared to Mary at the tomb after He resurrected.  She didn’t know it was Him.  She thought it was the voice of the gardener, which, in essence, it was.

The Vine was calling out to the branch, laying a foundation of why He came.  He asked, “Who is it you are looking for?” (John 20: 15)

After the resurrection, Jesus had to remind Mary that her relationship with Him was now through the Holy Spirit.  That’s why He said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the father.  Go instead, to my brothers and tell them.  I am returning to My father and your father to My God and your God.   (John 20: 17)

Whatever we are looking for in life, look no further, it’s found in Jesus.

If you need security, it’s in Jesus.

If you need to be loved, it’s in Jesus.

If you need to be accepted, it’s in Jesus.

If you need forgiveness, it’s in Jesus.

We go through life “looking” to be satisfied.  Mary went “looking” for Jesus that day, for she thought she had lost Him.  She thought He was gone, but He was with her, still abiding.  He was showing her to continue to be with HIm, in the garden of her heart.  But now her role had changed, her commission was to “Go and tell.”  She “Went with the news.”  (John 20: 18)

  • We are called to go with the news, the Good News.

Mary’s call to be with Him in the garden was still the same–she was in the Garden Tomb.  It was the place of the establishment!

He unlocked in her what she was always meant to be, “You are a garden locked up, my sister, my Bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain. You are a garden fountain, a well of flowing water streaming down.”  (Song of Songs 4: 12, 15)

  • Who you are is in the I Am.

Whatever we are looking for or looking to be, for meaning and purpose, let Him show you that you are His garden of delights.

He’s calling His Body back to that place in Him, and for Him.  “For the Lord God had planted a garden and there He put the man He had formed.  (Genesis 2: 8)

  • Just like Mary, our call hasn’t changed, the place we were called to is IN HIM!
  • It’s from that place, we go out from. (Shared from John 20: 1-18, Modified)

Our Foundation In Worship

When all had ended in the place of worship, of the assembled celebration that was brought back into the temple, the “Israelites who were there went out to the towns of Judah, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.”  (2 Chronicles 31: 1)

  • Worship empowered them, it empowers us.
  • What idol(s) are in our life that need to be smashed and crushed?

There’s a place in our hearts that God wants to occupy, but there may not be enough room, for our inbox is too full.  He keeps getting pushed out when there is not enough room.

  • Obedience and serving the Lord wholeheartedly empowers our lives as well.
  • The more we pour out, the more He pours back in.

Hezekiah brought forth the worship and contributions for worship.  Financially they received more than what was needed, so they distributed more as well.  Storehouses were even erected to hold the more!

Hezekiah’s faithfulness and obedience rewarded him and so he prospered.

  • His foundation in our lives serves us in all areas–emotionally, relationally, physically, and spiritually.

God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: The Lord knows who are His.”  (2 Timothy 2: 19)
