Focus, Focus, Focus!

This focus will bring you confidence about God’s involvement not only in the details of your life but in the whole world.

“Focus, focus, focus.” These are the words that I keep hearing in my spirit today for God’s people. There is peace found as you focus your thoughts, your eyes and your hope upon Jesus.

The enemy has send what I would call loud distractions to get God’s people to focus their attention on other things more than on him. This is a demonic strategy that is designed to wear you out, wear you down and to keep your heart in a chaotic state. Although there may be situations and circumstances that demand your attention, you will better know how to handle those situations as your thoughts, eyes and hope are focused on Jesus.

A line from the old hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” keeps flowing through my mind,

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face, then the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace.”

We need Jesus to be clear and the things of earth dimmed by his glory and grace. As you look (focus) upon him— you will not only find renewed strength and hope but everything that is loud in the world around you will become quieted— stilled by the power of his peace and the presence of his grace.

Your heart will begin to come into that peace and the anxious thoughts that have become an internal storm will hear his voice saying, “Peace be still.” And at his voice (command)— the storm will cease.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

As you refocus— allowing his peace to calm your storm— remain in the posture and place of the stillness that he provides. He is GOD over every person, every nation and in all the earth. Trust in him with all of your heart and strength. Don’t just momentarily focus on him— keep your focus on Jesus. He will give you a new perspective, a new heart, greater wisdom, and understanding of how to navigate this life on earth.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

To focus on him involves submitting to him— trusting (leaning) fully upon him. As you lean on him rather than your own understanding you will find that the crooked paths become straight before you.

The enemy is a twisting and shifting serpent that brings fear in order to grab your attention and turn your focus away from the Lord. Then he twists and shifts the paths before you with one fear after another.

This is why the Lord is calling out, “Focus, focus, focus!”

He is saying it three times and that is significant because the number three in the Bible speaks of divine perfection, completeness, and God’s profound involvement in the world. In Hebrew, three (or shelosh or sheloshah) means new life, harmony, and wholeness.

The focus will bring you confidence about God’s involvement not only in the details of your life but in the whole world. As you focus on him you will find harmony with heaven and wholeness in your heart— which brings new life.

He will make your paths straight! If all you see is twists and turns ahead— it is time to turn your eyes upon Jesus and to get your eyes off of what the twisting serpent is trying to accomplish in your life. You were created to trample upon snakes and scorpions— not to have them trample upon you. Crush the head of that snake and focus on Jesus alone!

Peace is your portion as you turn your attention and eyes upon Jesus.
