Farsighted or Shortsighted?

Those who are farsighted are able to see the Resurrection Power of the Holy Spirit in operation in their lives and the lives of those around them.

While these two things, mentioned in the title of this post, are actual conditions in people’s eyesight in the natural realm, they are also conditions of people’s vision in the Supernatural realm.

Being Farsighted in the natural realm is seeing (or being able to see) for great distances while being nearsighted is being unable to see clearly unless whatever you’re looking at is close to your eyes.

Jesus Christ was Farsighted in the Spirit realm. It doesn’t mean that in the natural realm, there was anything wrong with His vision, but He was able to see things in the Spirit realm (that were coming) way ahead of the time before they emerged.

“HE, FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM, ENDURED THE CROSS, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2b

While I’m sure that there was no joy in going to the Cross, Jesus Christ used His Foresight ability to look way beyond the Cross and its effects to see the countless multitudes of people who would be saved and restored to Father God by His selfless act!

While it is important to develop Farsightedness in the Spirit realm like Jesus Christ had, being Shortsighted is an extremely negative thing in the Spirit realm.

“For whoever lacks these qualities is BLIND, [spiritually] SHORTSIGHTED, [b]SEEING ONLY WHAT IS NEAR TO HIM, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins.” 2 Peter 1:9

While the qualities that are mentioned before this verse are internal qualities of the soul (2 Peter 1:4-8), they give you the ability to see the same way that Jesus Christ did while He walked the earth. Being Shortsighted in the Spirit realm means that you are only able to see short-term outcomes for yourself and the lives of those around you.

Those who develop the ability of Spiritual Farsightedness will be able to see beyond their current circumstances and view the outcomes of current situations far down the road of this life.

This kind of ability causes us to be more and more like our Heavenly Father, as He is the One Who is calling things which be not (currently) as though they already existed in the natural realm (Romans 4:17)!

Those who are Shortsighted can often only see themselves and their own issues. They constantly focus on their own abilities (or lack of abilities). Still, those who are farsighted are able to see the Resurrection Power of the Holy Spirit in operation in their lives (and the lives of those around them) after exiting the valley of the shadow of death (carrying their own crosses while following Jesus Christ).

If you’re feeling like you are too nearsighted in the Spirit realm today, you may need to petition the Holy Spirit to add more faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, Godliness, brotherly affection, or Love to your life.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to work upon the internal souls of our lives, those qualities will begin to overwhelm all of the fear that the enemy throws at us in the now, and cause us to see the Lords Divine Deliverance and Demonstration farther down the road of our circumstances.

If you do this then you’ll never be focused solely on yourself and what’s just visible around you, but instead, you’ll realize that,

“You are Somewhere In the Future and You Look Much Better Than you do Right Now” (Kim Clement)
