Childhood Trauma

Generational curses stop here.

Childhood trauma is…strange.

Sometimes you don’t even remember it until decades later.

Sometimes it takes 40+ years for the Lord to say, “Okay, now you’re ready to process this.”

The other day, I was out with my daughter, soaking in such a beautiful, simple moment—shopping for her prom dress and taking it to be altered. Out of nowhere, a memory hit me. A flashback to a childhood trauma I had never consciously thought about before.

It was something that left me walking for years with what I now call an orphan spirit.

You won’t find that term in the Bible, but it describes that deep ache—the feeling of being unseen, unloved, unwanted, uncared for, and unimportant.

In that moment, the Lord took me back to when I was 16.

He whispered, “The rejection happened… but I used it, and you are okay.”

Then He told me to look at my daughter.

And I smiled.

Because despite what I went through… she doesn’t have to.

She has a mom who shows up.

Who sees her.

Who calls her by name.

And if it’s important to her—it’s important to me.

And just like that, healing came.

That trauma? It didn’t define me.

It didn’t start with me.

It came from someone else’s unhealed wounds that spilled over onto me.

And that’s what allows the forgiveness.

This person did the best they could, with what they knew how to do.

But I have the opportunity to do better.

To be better.

Not a better person.

A healed person.

But as for me and my house—we will serve the Lord.

Generational curses stop here.

Hearts are protected.

And my daughter will always know she is wanted, loved, seen, cared for, and important.

Thank you, Jesus, for healing.
