Dear New Believers,
Here are 30 things I wish someone told me when I first got saved. I pray they’re a blessing to you.
1. You were baptized into Christ. This means you were baptized into The Army of the Lord. It won’t be all rainbows and unicorns.
2. You will battle your flesh more than demons.
3. There are Christian gangs. Don’t join them. If they don’t walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control…run. Not all who claim Christ know Christ. You will know them by their love.
4. Jesus’ ministry was reconciliation. So is yours.
5. Avoid spiritual pride at all costs. Other denominations are not your enemy…but pride is.
6. Read your Bible every day even when you don’t feel like it.
7. You will never be perfect, but Jesus in you is. Stop striving for perfection and strive to know Him more. That alone will change you.
8. People are not the enemy.
9. You will be hurt in your walk. 90% of the time it will be by people claiming Christ. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
10. Until you’ve read the Bible, you don’t need any other books to help you understand Christ.
11. No one is “more anointed” than you. You have the anointing of Jesus Christ.
12. You will have bad days. Awful days. Jesus is still with you. He never leaves.
13. Start your Bible reading plan in the New Testament.
14. Your job is to share The Gospel of Good News, not to convert. Let Holy Spirit be Holy Spirit.
15. Don’t post everything you think.
16. Guard your peace. Stand up for others, but let God defend you. You can love people from the blocked list.
17. People who claim Christ will lie about you, gossip about you, and attack your character. See above.
18. Facebook isn’t church.
20. God is still speaking. He never stopped. Be still long enough to hear Him.
21. God calls you His Beloved. The enemy will tell you otherwise. He’s a liar, and there is no truth in him.
22. It is radically important to read scripture in context. A good Bible study can help with that.
23. You can (and should be) friends with people of different faiths or no faith at all. We aren’t in a cult. Your life is an invitation.
24. Don’t look for a perfect church. Find a church where people radically love Christ.
25. Your salvation is instant. Mind renewal is daily, and ongoing as long as you’re on this side of glory.
26. Jesus loves you the same on your best day as He does on your worst day.
27. Don’t compare your walk with Christ to anyone else. This is your journey with Jesus.
28. The blessings God pours out on your life are for you, but also for you to pour into others.
29. God is real. The Bible is infallible. Jesus is the only way to the Father. How you share that message matters.
30. Love is your superpower.
