5 Ways To Stop Negative Thinking

People who find the good in their circumstances shine like a beacon drawing others and leading the way.

Negative and positive thoughts cannot inhabit the same space. One or the other fills our minds until we decide to intervene.

Both thought patterns lead us on a spiral path. We choose the upward spiral and look for the good in our situations. Or we take the downward spiral, which leads to fear, frustration, anger, and depression.

Positive thinking helps us focus on the good things in our lives and businesses. It brings us joy and more satisfaction than dwelling on the negative aspects of a situation.

People who find the good in their circumstances shine like a beacon drawing others and leading the way. Successful people learn to be positive thinkers.

Like many of you, I’ve experienced trials and setbacks. Yet even in life’s daily ups and downs, I work to turn my natural, negative thinking in a more positive direction.

These are the steps I use to change my damaging thoughts and focus on what God tells us.

1. Capture Your Thoughts

Capture your thoughts and submit them to the truths found in these verses as you create more positive thinking. ~2 Corinthians 10:5

2. Don’t Worry About Anything

What would happen if the worst possible outcome occurred? Would God still be there? Would He still be in control? Is God able to take care of you now? ~Philippians 4:6

3. Thank Him for All He’s Done

Find something to thank God for in your present circumstances. Learning to be content involves choosing an attitude of gratitude. Philippians 4:6

4. Think on These Things

What is true? Beautiful? Worthy of praise? Excellent? What does God promise you? Philippians 4:8

5. Take Control of Your Thoughts

What you pay attention to is what you see. Stop and enjoy the beauty. Rehearse the positives. Take control of your thoughts and make it a habit to think about the positive aspects of your situation. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5
