Where Hope is Found

When the pain of the fight oozes from my soul, the Almighty will rescue me.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

1 Peter 6:10 (ESV)

Do I need to lend words or a story to this devotional? No. Everything we need is right there in the Word, His Word. Whether we are fighting battles in our faith, or Satan on the frontline, the message is clear.

The devil prowls. We know those who prowl come to destroy and devour. They are sneaky and smart, conniving, and calculated. Through Christ, who says we can do all things, we are to resist him. Resist him how? Firm in our faith. The fight is bloody and often heartbreaking, but in the end, we will dwell in eternal glory.

As my life swirls in the violent storm, God is with me. When I fall on my knees in desperate surrender, He lifts me. When the pain of the fight oozes from my soul, the Almighty will rescue me.

Wherever Satan moves to destroy, you are secure by the blessed arms of the Savior. It may hurt, but only for a while. Hopelessness is washed away by the infinite press of hope on our minds and in our hearts.

Be brave. Be courageous. Believe.
