When Jesus Walked Into Town

Scandalous grace and mercy.

Posted on

The unclean flocking to him.

Limping.

Crying.

The drunkard stumbling.

People cutting themselves.

Open sores.

Wounds oozing.

Limbs rotting off.

People dying.

Children appearing dead.

Mothers wailing.

The blind crying out.

Demons manifesting.

People in complete psychosis.

Women bleeding.

The prostitutes walking in the shadows.

The deaf begging.

Does that sound neat and tidy?

It was dirty.

It had a foul odor.

It was loud and disorderly.

It was often dangerous.

It was always SCANDALOUS.

SCANDALOUS GRACE.

SCANDALOUS MERCY.

Please stop expecting revival to be clean, neat, and orderly.

Only the Pharisees were disgusted by the lack of order.

Just help people get to the cross.

That’s our part.

Our burning conviction should be this….

There but for the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, was I.

Mark 2:17

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: `I desire mercy, not sacrifice. ‘ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
