After Solomon and His workers completed the building of the temple, there was one thing missing. That one thing was the ark, the presence of the Lord.
“Solomon summoned to Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelites family’s, to bring up the ark of the Lord’s covenant from Zion, the city of David.” (2 Chronicles 5: 2-3)
The Levites, who were the priests, carried the ark, as the entire assembly gathered before the ark. They had sacrificed so many sheep and cattle, that it could not be recorded nor counted.
- His priests carry His presence.
- A sacrifice that’s accepted is to give our best.
- Whatever we do for the Lord, give Him your best, wholehearted devotion, and worship.
- Giving our best worship releases the glory.
After the ark was placed in the Holy Place within the temple, “All the Levites, who were musicians, joined in unison, as with one voice, to give thanks to the Lord. They were accompanied by 120 priests, sounding their trumpets, who sang and gave thanks to the Lord.” (2 Chronicles 5: 12-13)
- Gathering in unity, with one voice, releases His presence.
We can’t miss this or pass this by: “Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.” (2 Chronicles 5: 13-14)
- The sound of praise, the sacrifice of praise, causes God’s glory to descend.
- God desires to touch His people in worship.
- God’s house was made to bring glory to Him as He brings glory to us, and we share in His glory.
The Glorious One chooses to share with us His glory, His presence. Oh what a glorious God we serve! (Shared from 2 Chronicles 5: 2-14, Modified)
Unfaithfulness Disrupts His Glorious Presence
God always intended to dwell with mankind. In the cool of the day, God would come down and be with Adam in the garden. Then separation, called sin, disobedience, and unfaithfulness, occurred. Malachi was calling Israel back to being faithful.
How do we remain faithful? “Guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.” (Malachi 2: 16)
God knows what separation does. That’s why He has said, “I hate divorce.” (Malachi 2: 16) He knows what that feels like, for His own children have been unfaithful.
- Being unfaithful rips us from his arms, from His presence. (Shared from Malachi 2: 10-2: 16, Modified)
Testifying About Jesus Brings Glory The Pharisees were bringing accusations against Jesus saying He was demon-possessed. Jesus answered them, “I am not possessed by a demon. I am not seeking glory for Myself; but there is one who seeks it, and He is the judge.” (John 8: 49-50)
- Seeking His glory, for His glory, glorifies our God.
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in his temple.” (Psalm 27: 4)
- As the temples of God, we carry His presence, we house His glory.
- Embrace being His glory carrier! (Shared from John 8: 48-59, Modified
