God is purifying all that is done in His name— He is separating that which uses His name in order to bring glory to self and that which is done in His name to bring glory to Him alone.
Those who truly seek His will and not their own will discern and know the difference between Godly authority and self-promoting authority. They will see the difference with their spiritual eyes and smell the difference with their spiritual senses between what is pure, sweet fruit and what is rotten fruit.
The authority of those who earnestly desire God to receive all of the glory brings about the righteousness that will usher in change. That change benefits all, brings freedom, and brings glory to God alone. But the authority that is welded for selfish gain and personal glory merely enslaves people to serve a master who loves his name more than the name of Jesus. It may draw a crowd at first but that crowd will be full of men and women who have not encountered sonship or agape love. It will empower captivity rather than set people free.
Those who desire His will and desire to see all glory given to God are receiving a new level of discernment to distinguish between those who are true servants and those who seek to be served. Those who seek to do His will are true servants who love sacrificially— they do not want others to sacrifice to make their name and platform great.
A delineation line is upon us— a plumb line. It is separating the precious from the worthless — the holy from the profane.
It has begun first in our hearts and in His Church but then it comes upon leaders of nations and corporations and upon places of secular authority.
The Lord brought me to this scripture,
If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.” John 7:17-18
This delineation line or plumb line will come upon every five-fold gift: the apostle, the prophet, the evangelist, the pastor, and the teacher. These gifts were given to do the will of God and to bring glory to the name of Jesus. They are gift that serve the people that Jesus died for. They are not to bring glory to the one who uses the gift to seek glory for his own name. Jesus died for those whom these gifts were given to serve and the Father is jealous over this.
We must first ask the Spirit to examine our own hearts that can so easily succumb to selfishness and the lust for power. Then we must pray for God to bring a spirit of repentance upon those who have been using authority for bringing glory to their own name.
May we all pray as Jesus did as He was about to give His life as a ransom for our sins,
…nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42
