Strongholds

It’s when I finally ran to Him in my weakness
that He strengthened and delivered me
He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites
and He made an escape for me

I wasn’t seeking God or His Kingdom first

I wasn’t living righteously according to His Word

I finally learned the importance of Matthew 6:33

That’s when He supplies me with everything I need

I wasn’t allowing God to satisfy my hunger or my thirst

I was living for instant gratification, putting my desires first

I wasn’t allowing God to be my strength when I was weak

I was being selfish, the exact opposite of His selfless love for me

I’m not proud of my behavior

I was ashamed but kept going back for more

I wasn’t relying on God to be my strength

or to be whom I was looking for

It’s when I finally ran to Him in my weakness

that He strengthened and delivered me

He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites

and He made an escape for me

I rejoice in the Lord because He is good

His Word reveals each answer to the subjects I seek

The Bible is not just a book—It’s so fully alive that it speaks

I’m no longer a slave; my identity is in Christ Jesus, my King

The stronghold that had the best of me is a thing of the past

I choose to believe in God’s promises, as they are truths that last

With God, all things are possible—I’ll savor this until my demise

He is my strength and my healer—He is the One who provides

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:33

About the Author

Debbie always had a desire to write a book, but didn’t have a clue as to what the content could be. Children’s books and short stories piqued her interest most. She had dabbled with writing family-oriented poems, off and on over the years, but became overwhelmed with a hunger to write about God and His love in her late fifties. She started seeing God everywhere she looked whether it was in a deck of cards, movie titles, nursery rhymes, popular sayings, flower petals, or a baseball game. She finally realized that prophecy was being fulfilled when one of her sons told her that her poetry glorified God and was meant to be shared. The Lord’s words from an encounter in 2011 immediately returned to her. She had found her own way to speak about God just like He told her she would. Debbie is sharing her poetry in hopes that it will nourish and strengthen souls for the Kingdom of God. She refers to her poetic style as floetry, as it is the move of the Holy Spirit flowing from her heart to another. Her desire to flood the prisons with her book is due to God’s belief in her, and in her belief that no one can cast the first stone, but that everyone can help someone who is in desperate need of a Savior.
