Proverbs 14

A house built on the rock, who is Jesus, can withstand any storm because its foundation is solid.

We open this chapter looking at how a wise woman builds her house.

She is a source of strength and an example of diligence for her family.

We all have heard it said, “If Mama ain’t happy, no one is happy!”  I know that’s not Biblical, but here’s what Proverbs 14: 1 does say:  “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

Women of God be wise about building your house.

The very final chapter of the book of Proverbs speaks about being a Proverbs 31 woman.  We’ll talk more about the beauty of being a wife of noble character when we get to the end.

In that final chapter, it asks this question:  “Who can find her?”

In other words, women of virtuous character are hard to find.

If our ways please the Lord, we will walk uprightly before Him.  A picture of that is in the very next verse which says, “He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises Him.”  Proverbs 14 2

As we move through the chapter, we are warned to distance ourselves from foolish men.  “Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.”  Proverbs 14: 7

If we build our houses on the principles of God, we will flourish.  If we don’t destruction may be inevitable.  Why?  “The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.”  Proverbs 14: 11

We all know the importance of having a good, solid foundation to uphold the structure of a house.

Jesus reminded us that a wise man builds his house on a rock and the foolish man builds his house on sand.

Recall all the creative sandcastles we make at the beach eventually crumble and are washed away.

A house built on the rock, who is Jesus, can withstand any storm because its foundation is solid.

May the structure and foundation of your home be built with the love, strength, and wisdom from the Lord.

Those who fear the LORD are secure; he will be a refuge for their children.”  Proverbs 14: 26

The wisdom that is built in your home will be passed on to your children as a refuge, a place of shelter and safety.

May God Be Your Refuge And Strength As You Build Your House.
