PODCAST

HOSTS: ETHAN HOOVER + MATTHEW MAHER

What is Biblical doctrine? Why does it matter? Why was it relevant to the early church & why is it relevant to us now? Listen in on Ethan Hoover & Matthew Maher’s discussion on doctrine.

Show Notes:

  • Definition of doctrine
    • Absolutes
    • The gray (negotiable)
  • Doctrine is God’s interpretation – what God says
  • Doctrines that are negotiated, but shouldn’t be, are a distraction for the Church and waste valuable time
    • When we over-analyze negotiable doctrines, lost souls lose
  • 2 Timothy 3:16
  • Biblical doctrine vs. man-made doctrine
    • People often put the traditions of men over the commandments of God
    • Example: Sabbath

About the Author

Matthew Maher is an author, speaker, and pastor. Through various vocations, he aims to inspire conscience and instigate conviction. Matthew has gone from pro to con to Christ (From the heights of success to the flatline of failure). As a professional soccer player, he followed the trends of the world while ignoring the truth of God’s Word.

As a result, in 2009, a life-altering failure would change his trajectory and have him collide head-on with the redemption of the Savior. Now he is no longer persuaded by the trends of the culture around him and is committed to share the truth of Christ within him, whatever the cost.
