Our Only Hope

The rapid advancement of AI into realms of unexplored creativity will create the stage for that revival.

Recently, Elon Musk revealed the latest version of AI (Artificial Intelligence). It is called Grok 4. Its development will come in the next few years and will be powerful beyond our wildest imagination.

This level of AI will gather all available information regarding a subject in a single moment and provide it all at once. One commentator said we will be able to text Grok 4 and say, “Create a movie regarding…. (insert your desired topic). Then, in a literal instant of time, like the time it takes to snap a finger, a full-length movie would be produced. Grok 4 will select the actors, create the full movie script, score the music, and oversee the full range of a movie’s production and its advertisement, all in the time it takes to snap a finger. These advancements in AI technology will continue to develop, regardless of how strongly we disagree with their creation and progress.

Some believers worry about how it will affect their faith. Their worry will reveal the weakness of the foundation of their faith. The Church can appear, at times, to have the corner on worry when it comes to something new and beyond the realm of our current intellectual development.

There is only one way to keep us safe as these unimagined and incredible advancements are revealed, especially when AI appears and sounds like a human so advanced that it will appear to be an alien life form. As this is happening, we need to keep our attention focused on Jesus, not the technology. That solution sounds overly simplistic to those who are unaware of the majesty of Jesus Christ.

Paul said of the Lord, “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we cannot see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together” (Colossians 1:15-17).

With the rapid development of AI, what is coming will be, as Elon Musk said, “It will be terrifying.” What will be terrifying is its rapid development and deployment. This advancement in AI will occur rapidly.

In that terrifying future, a glorious reality will emerge. The Lord, who is the first and last, the beginning and the end, and the Creator of all things, will visit the nations in profound ways, exposing the intent of our human inventions that resemble an attempt to replicate our own version of the Tower of Babel. No human invention can reach the heights of heaven, even if that invention takes us to unimagined heights of revelation and accomplishment. Only Jesus can do that.

The rapid advancement of AI into realms of unexplored creativity will create the stage for that revival. This will not be a localized revival occurring in a single nation. It will be a globally impacting revival that will present Jesus as the last and only hope for humanity.

This revival will happen as AI continues to soar in its incredible advances in all areas of science, technology, and human creativity. No matter how advanced AI becomes, it will still be artificial. Only Jesus is real. He is the One upon whom our attention needs to be focused. He has been and will continue to be our only hope.
