What have we been charged with as believers? Have we ever asked that question?
Our charge is simply, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6: 12)
How do we take hold of eternal life? As Christians, we possess eternal life since we’re saved, but Paul is urging Timothy to claim its benefits in greater fullness.
How do we do that? Paul said, “I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in time–God, the blessed and only ruler, the king of kings and the Lord of Lords.” (1 Timothy 6: 14)
What are some other ways we can keep charge? “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant, nor put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God.” (1 Timothy 6: 17)
- Be rich in good deeds, generous, and willing to share.
Paul leaves Timothy with this charge, “Guard what has been entrusted to your care.” (1 Timothy 6: 20)
- Guard it, but don’t hoard it.

Taking Charge Will Attract Accusers
When we decide to follow the ways of the Lord, it will attract opposition. But stand firm, and strong. If we are falsely accused here’s what goes down, “I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me. Save me from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.” (Psalm 120: 1-2)
- Stay in peace, it’s a weapon.
- Keep lifting your eyes to the Lord.
- It’s where our help comes from.

Take Charge And Stay Faithful
Jeremiah is shown the unfaithfulness of Israel. He sees how they have committed spiritual adultery by worshiping idols and turn to the other gods.
- God understands the pain of unfaithfulness.
- He feels the pain of an entire nation, not just one person.
He said through His pain, “Return, faithless people, declares the Lord, for I am your husband.” (Jeremiah 2: 14)
The Heart Of God Expressed
He pours out His heart, “I thought you would call me father and not turn away from following me.” (Jeremiah 3: 19) He pours out even more, “Return, faithless people, I will cure you of backsliding.” (Jeremiah 3: 22)
I never looked at backsliding as one needing cured or healed from, like from an illness.
If we turn away and never return, here is what turning away can do, “Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you; consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the Lord your God and have no awe of me, declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.” (Jeremiah 2: 19)
God still cries out through the voice of the prophet, “O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved.” (Jeremiah 4: 14)

Take Charge
“It’s time to take charge of your life and your call; you’ve been saved and selected, restored from the fall.
I’m gathering a remnant who will take charge and stand; their strength from on high, going into every land.
Your call is bigger and wider than what you see, I have remarried and restored you to me.
Allow me to work through your thoughts and plans; there are many being torn and need to take a stand.
My kingdom is suffering until you come over; take charge my children, your purpose will have closure.
You’ve waited and wondered what your purpose is in me; I’ve connected you with my Spirit, who brings release and makes you free.
The time is now to stand up and take charge; embrace your marching orders, my kingdom is to be enlarged.
As you stand and fight for my ways, you’ll bring in all the others, who have gone astray.
So know your orders and carry them out; my kingdom soldiers shall begin with a shout.
And as you lead, many will follow; your future is secured, no worries for tomorrow.
Your job has been set and plans in place; continue to pursue my presence, seek my face.
My blueprints and plans have already been written; my love for you is as one who is smitten.
My power is released through your courage and grace; step out and over into my space.
It’s a supernatural way to live; that has appointments and assignments for me to give.
As you obey and stay faithful and strong; my Spirit will teach and carry you along.
So run your race and take charge; there’s a God who’s not little, has a kingdom so large.
And when you tire and want to rest, that baton in your hand shall be passed on and possessed.”
